Hardwood flooring selection guide

Wood flooring has an allure that no one can deny, and there are many reasons to love it, including gorgeous colors, charming natural features, and distinctive grain patterns. It's timeless, works well with any decor from traditional to modern urban, California coastal, and more, adds value to a property, is long-lasting, and adds value to a property.

If you’re thinking about them, be sure to come into our hardwood flooring company to see our oak, hickory, birch, and bamboo floors in various plank widths and textures. We carry Cali Bamboo, Chesapeake, Hallmark, Mannington, and more.

Here are a few things to consider when shopping for hardwood:

Decide on construction

There’s solid hardwood flooring and engineered wood. At the same time, they are both genuine wood with floors composed of your species of choice. Solid is one thickness throughout, while engineered is layered, resulting in a wood floor that's more stable and better able to handle water.

What’s your style?

1. Think of a grain pattern. Logs are cut in three ways, giving them either a long, linear look; waves and cathedrals, or a combination of both. Look through our samples to see what appeals to you.

2. Do you want a domestic species, such as oak, where the colors are warmer and more traditional, or would you prefer an exotic species like Brazilian cherry or ebony? Exotic species are darker and more dramatic.

3. What plank width do you prefer? Wider planks (anything over five inches) are trending but can sometimes make a smaller room look narrow and cluttered. At our flooring company, you can find planks that range in width from three inches to seven and one-half inches wide.

4. On-site or pre (factory) finished? You know what you're getting with a factory finish and can start coordinating even before the floors arrive. However, on-site finishing offers more colors and opportunities for customization.
